Musician Bios:

Rebekah Soued-Weaver is a freelance violinist, performing regularly with the San Juan Symphony, in addition to playing for weddings and whatever else comes her way.  She also maintains teaching studios in both Silverton and Durango, sharing her love of music with students who range in age from 6 to 83. Rebekah received her Bachelors degree in Violin Performance from Fort Lewis College and her Masters of Music in Violin Pedagogy from Western Kentucky University.

Derek Edwards is a hobbyist multi-instrumentalist. Derek privately studied classical violin during his youth for over a decade, culminating his studies with several years in the studio of recording artist, Grammy nominee and National Symphony Orchestra first violinist Jenny Oaks Baker. Derek has participated in numerous ensembles, including theatrical pit orchestras, the Virginia Band & Orchestra Directors Association All-District and All-Regional Orchestras, and the University-Shenandoah Symphony Orchestra at Washington and Lee University. Derek was awarded a Superior Rating for Solo Violin Performance at the National Federation of Music Clubs in 2003. He is a self-taught guitarist and mandolinist, and professionally taught music in Virginia and Utah for the better part of the 2010s; recording artists Jordan Gibbons and Samuel Handley were beginning students in his studio.

Samantha Tisdel Wright has been fiddling around on the viola ever since she was a kid. She has played in the Valley Symphony Orchestra and is happy to hold up the alto section in the Anvil Quartet.

Ash Hershey has been playing cello for many years. In addition to Silverton’s Anvil Strings, she plays with a cello ensemble in Durango and loves to jam with musicians at the Powerhouse Collective.

This event is hosted by Rebekah Soued Violin Studio, www.rebekahsouedviolin.com as part of Silverton Creates!, a week-long celebration of the arts.
