Join Alpine Water Resources (AWR) and Mountain Studies institute (MSI)for an evening discussion about the state of the beaver in San Juan County.

Over the last two years, AWR has been studying the beaver population in San Juan County with the help of federal grant funds issued to the county. The work has focused on exploring how beaver habitat preservation and restoration may be integrated into remediation efforts of abandoned mine lands in the Upper Animas Watershed around Silverton. MSI will discuss the active and planned restoration efforts related to beavers in San Juan County. There will also be a summary of current efforts and strategies implemented to manage and protect from impacts of beaver on infrastructure and property, while also supporting the coexistence with healthy beaver habitat.
